CHRISTIANITY LAVA FIELD

The original Icelandic religion was Heathenism. At one point, there was a debate about whether Christianity should be adopted. It is said that as this debate was occurring, lava caves started spewing; this was interpreted as a sign of the Heathen Gods’ anger.

 The evidence of Heathenism still exists. In certain lava fields, tiny doors are painted onto the rocks, which are considered to be elf dwellings. Children are still told tales of trolls, elves, dwarfs, and other magical creatures.
