WAXING FOR THE THIRD TIME
Finally completed my third wax job. I've been trying to get the shine back into the car.
So after each wax attempt, I would compare the pre- and post-wax attempts to see if it
worked properly. And of course, I would soap, wash, and dry the car before each attempt.
My first waxing product was the RainX paste wax. It seemed to work properly, but it always
leaves a powder residue on the surface of the car. It doesn't help the shine of the car if a grey coloured
powder is removing the shine from afar. It was impossible to wipe it off. It seemed to want to stick to the
car. Time to look for a better product.
The second product was Turtle Wax, the one that is coloured in the bottle and has some sort of wax lipstick.
It sucked. The wax lipstick thingy was offcolour, so the one scratch (actually two, but I'm in denial) that I had
looked even more prominent with the wax lipstick applied on it. After working hard to wipe it off, the waxing looked
alright, but it seemed to leave a blue coating on the car, which removes from its multi-colour shine. The color of
the car changes colour depending on the viewing angle, and this wax removed that feature. The colour looked the
same regardless of the viewing angle. Nice shine, but I wanted my multi-look paint back. Back to the store.
This time, I read the reviews of various products (like I should have done the first time). Got Mother's Carnuba wax. This product rocks. It works really well and does an amazing job of bringing the shine back. And the
multi-colour view is definately back. I also think it helps that the pics were taken during the day.
Contrary to the appearance, it was actually a cold day. The sun appeared only for a brief time during the afternoon,
just long enough for some pictures.
After completing the wax job, I read online that Mother's Clay Bar system is really good at removing dirt and
surface particles. I'm going to try that and re-apply the wax after it. Maybe I can try it next week. I have no
idea how well the previous owner waxed the car, so I'm doing everything I can to make sure it starts great. So far, so good,
although I kinda feel I'm wasting way too much time on this. :)
