GOLDEN TEMPLE
We had some time in the evening and I wanted to sit for some of
the prayers, but my dad's arthritis was acting up, so I decided against it.
Maybe next time. We walked around the courtyard so that I could get a full
perspective of the golden temple. I took pictures from multiple angles to remind
me of it. I'm sure it will help once the Alzheimer's kicks in. God knows my
memory retention is little enough as it is. :P
No pictures were allowed in the actual golden temple, but no one had a proper
reason as to why. Don't say terrorism, cause a powerful camera from the outside
could capture any details that my dinky Toshiba would inside the temple.
Anyways, if you have an idea as to why no pics are allowed inside, drop me a
line. I'm interested.
This is a front view of the temple. It gives a perspective of the size of the
golden temple, which is even prettier in person. If you get the chance, definitely go
and see it. And if you have the time, listen to some of the prayers and chants.
I'm sure its not different than other religions in that aspect, but I guess it
holds a special place in my heart.
Another view of the main temple, but zoomed out. I wish I could have seen it
at night, but we had to catch a train out. Those lanterns must look amazing
with the light shining off the gold face of the temple and gate.
That's me just to the left of the front gate. The top of the gate is solid
gold too. The artwork of the gold is equally impressive. In my condition of awe,
I didn't take any close-ups. Sorry! :(
Can't quite see the main temple, so this shot didn't turn out as well as I
hoped. This was the main entrace to the walkway going to the temple.
The roof of the gateway to the golden temple. Yet again, so pretty. I would
never line anything in gold at my house, but it definitely looks impressive when
molded into artwork like this.
On the way out, I just had to get another picture of the temple with myself
in the foreground. Look mommy, I'm at the golden temple! Wish you were here with
me!
My daddy at the golden temple. I owe him tons for everything, and now even
more for taking me to the golden temple. Thanks Dad! I'll make it up to you by
making some mushroom soup. :)
